Week 4 -- The End is Near

I was unable to attend any of the weekend web conferences. I was a little disappointed since we didn’t have one during the week, but it gave me extra time to work on this week’s assignments. I was thankful the chat log and recording were posted to the discussion board. It is often difficult to understand from the chat log alone what the conversation is about. From the conference I learned how Dr. Abernathy determines if we have all the references in our paper in the reference section. As she reads the paper and comes to the reference, she checks it off in that section. This is a good way for me to ensure that I have all my citations in the reference section. Another topic of discussion was graduation. Even though I won’t graduate until May 2012, I get excited for those gradating in December 2011 as the process is discussed. It sounds like a fun opportunity.

Week 3 -- Encouragement

Tuesday night’s web conference got off to a late start. Not many were in attendance, and there were not many questions. The questions asked dealt with APA formatting, with whether to bold the title of the paper or not being the most controversial. Dr. Abernathy said she would accept it either way which is one example of how this program shows support for their students. They want us to succeed and try not to let the little things get in the way. As always, the web conference was full of encouragement, which is the main reason I participate in them. It can get overwhelming and frustrating as you try to prepare the best assignment possible for a particular week. It is nice to know others are in this with you and the professors are here for you. They do their best to keep us in mind and model how we should be leading the students we teach.

Week 2 -- Reassurance

Tuesday night’s web conference was another informative conference. Reassurance is always welcome when working to complete the best work possible. Several colleagues were concerned about not having feedback from the week one assignment. I hadn’t thought to be worried at this point since I have always found a way to get the job done. On top of that, I can’t imagine grading the number of papers that were turned in all in one day. I never expected to have feedback until the fourth or fifth day of the following week, so I moved on to complete week two. Our IA, Dawn, has been very informative and very timely in all communications. I know that she will do the same when grading. This program has been the best at keeping their students at the forefront and helping us to accomplish and achieve at our highest levels.

Week 1 -- Organization and Management of Assignments

It is exciting to be with a group that will graduate in December and see how excited they are to finish their last course. Five weeks and they will be masters of educational technology leadership. The web conference was informative and a bit overwhelming all at once. Useful hints and tips were given to get us started on our final e-portfolio and comprehensive exam. It is hard to imagine what it will all look like in the end, but I think if I continue to take it one day at a time and focus on what the assignment directions say, all will fall into place by week five.
